When it comes to embarking on a menopause wellness retreat, there tends to be two categories of women.
There are those who see a retreat as an adventure and opportunity to try something new, booking almost instantly with no fear or hesitation. Then, there are the procrastinator’s who um and ah; so much that become paralysed by fear and end up missing out altogether.
Procrastination in menopause is common, especially when we are stepping outside of our comfort zone. So, if that’s you, see which one of these roadblocks are stopping you from enjoying the adventure of a lifetime:
1. ‘I Won’t Get on With Others’
It’s totally normal to worry if you’ll get on with others when going to a new place and meeting new people. However, I can guarantee you that you will get on with the people on a menopause wellness retreat simply because we’re all women, all in peri/menopause, and we’re all going through the same experience.
At our retreats, we promise a comfortable, friendly, and supportive environment where you can really bond with others. You may meet as strangers, but I guarantee you will leave as friends.
2. ‘I won’t know anyone’
Naturally, some women are scared to attend a retreat on their own as they’re worried that they may feel left out and isolated. But the beauty of a wellness retreat is that most attendees are in the same boat and feeling the exact same feelings.
As soon as you’ve arrived and we’ve given you a warm welcome, your anxiety and tension will melt away and you’ll look back and be so proud that you took that step outside of your comfort zone. Plus, even before the retreat begins, you’ll have the chance to connect with the other women so at the very least you’ll know names and faces.
3. ‘I’m Scared to Travel Alone’
Some avoid a wellness retreat as the mere thought of travelling by themselves gives them anxiety. Which is why at our retreats, we give you the opportunity to connect with other attendees in advance so you can meet locally or travel together. We will always do our best to ensure that you don’t have to travel alone, plus we’ll even meet you at the train station when you arrive.
At our last UK retreat, we had women travel from Portugal and Australia – so no distance is ever too far.
4. ‘I Don’t Want to Share a Room with Strangers’
Even though there are private rooms available, we recommend sharing a room because it’s simply the best way to make friends and it evokes childhood sleepovers whispering when the lights have been turned out. ‘Roomies’ tend to be the ones whose friendships become lifelong, and we’ve had many people who were originally apprehensive about sharing go on to book future retreats together with the person they last shared with!
5. ‘My Yoga Isn’t Good Enough’
Most women worry that they aren’t flexible or strong enough due to common misconceptions around yoga and retreats so make sure you choose a retreat that caters for your abilities.
If you’re a complete beginner, look for ‘beginners’ retreats such as our Escape to the Country retreat in October 2022. You’ll learn the basics of the practice under close guidance of a supportive teacher, and you’ll go home with an abundance of knowledge and confidence. Remember, everyone is good enough, and everyone is welcome at our wellness retreats.
6. ‘I Can’t Afford it’
With the rise in living costs, this was a common response when conducting our research which is why we’re giving our Escape to the Country retreat attendees a 10% discount with the code ‘VIPDISCOUNT’ available until 11th September, plus you can spread the cost across 3 monthly payments. And, when you get there, all your food, drink and activities are included so you don’t have to worry about hidden expenses.
